Mozz is back

Who would have thought the new Morrissey release is something I could download straight from the internet via Apple’s iTune? It was like, what, 7 years already since his last album? I love his new opening track “America Is Not The World”:

America your head’s too big, Because America, Your belly’s too big
And I love you, I just wish you’d stay where you is

In America, The land of the free, they said, And of opportunity, In a just and a truthful way
But where the president, Is never black, female or gay, And until that day
You’ve got nothing to say to me, To help me believe

In America, It brought you the hamburger, Well America you know where, You can shove your hamburger
And don’t you wonder, Why in Estonia they say, Hey you, Big fat pig
You fat pig, You fat pig

LOL. Typical crap from Mozz, yet he made everything so catchy that you have to sing along to. “Irish Blood English Heart” is also a pretty good tune. After I listen to Mozz’s new tunes, I ended up digging up some classic Smiths tracks on Hatful of Hallow and have another listen. ‘Glad Mozz is still around.

June 4th – 15 years later.

There’s a recent Chinese saying going around: “Chinese aren’t afraid of speaking out on anything, except for telling the truth.”

June 4th, 1989 seems so long ago and I was only 17 back then. Hong Kong was still under the British control and Hong Kongness were scared shitless when they saw what’s going on CNN.

I remembered hearing crazy (and inaccurate) rumors about crazy PLA soldiers with leader-whip entering Tiananmen Square via “secret tunnels” and arresting students and such. I also remember me and a few mates back then took part in the march/protest in the rain. If I remembered correctly, a typhoon was actually hitting Hong Kong that couple of days. We were all soaked in rain. Yeah, we were young and stupid, and naïve. How embarrassing.

It’s weird to hear it on the radio program Pacific Time devoted entire show on 6-4 (how Chinese usually refer to it). Not to mention, learning the fact some of the “student leaders” back then are now dot-comers or working in the US investment banks.

It’s a weird complex I guess… For our generation that had experienced it, we’re afraid and almost embarrassed to look back in time to see how stupid we were…

On the other hand, for the Chinese government, it’s also time to admit the mistakes. You fucked up, let’s apologized and move on.

We shouldn’t all be spending time to look at 6-4 in shame and regret. For admitting the fact you fucked up (or us being stupid and naïve) is the first step for us to leave it all behind.

Hay, I am just telling the truth.

Microsoft patents computer clicks

This is actually not a joke. The patent, number 6,727,830, was granted on April 27.

I think the patent only applies to PDAs or Smart Phones since the patent mention ” limited resource computing device”. It’s actually a rather smart move, I think the “click” here also only refers to the using a stylus or a phone keypad since there’s no mention of mouse specific clicks.

On my Sony/Ericsson phone I actually observers this kind of behavior already… When you click on the keypad “4” and hold it for more than a second, it will bring up all the “G H I” names in the address book. I don’t know how legally it’s going to work, but this “new” Microsoft patent is really nothing “new”.

Mikro Man

My friend Jee just got back from her vacation trip at London and Paris. She brought back this very neat little gift for me.

This totally nice, delicate well designed 2D/3D metal “sculpture man” stands about 3 inches tall. It comes in a flat packaging and you are suppose to bend it to the actual finished form. Check out the Mikro Man Web Site to see more. The one I got is the “Gamer”. Thanks Jee!

“Death Warp” to Jeuno

Kids, don’t try this at home. Soloing my Red Mage AF 2. Aggro level 48ish bees in Crawler’s Nest, didn’t Warp back home fast enough and result in the warp of my dead body . Fortunately, there are plenty of higher levels around which give me a Rasie II (which recover 75% of my experience lost).

Most embressing KO for me so far.

Hitting the big 5-0

{Congratulations!}

That’s how my party reacted when I hit level 50 with my Red Mage in the MMORPG Final Fantasy Online the past Sunday.

I’ve been playing the game since last Nov, and only took 2 weeks off when I was off to Hong Kong. It took roughly 5 months to get to this point in the game. When the game was first released 2 years ago in Japan, level 50 was the cap, since then the level cap had been risen to 75.

My current sub is Black Mage and I am only 200 experience points away from maxing my sub (to Lvl 25) which I can use Aspir…

I know it sounds like foregin to some, but it’s truly an amazing experience playing this game. I converse with a lot of European, Japanese, people from East Coast, Mid-West, and a lot of the times I party with Hawaiian since I usually play late at night (which is their prime time). We all try to block out the daily crap we have to deal with and just enjoy ourselves in this alternative world… I know it sounds so Matrix and geekish, and it is.

Anyways, the picture you see here is me “farming” a giant for drops and gil (money) a few weeks back. I look rather good in it, but since then I have been upgrading my equipment to more “Level 50 like”. But all I can afford to pick up are some lame Mage specific stuff… I mean, those stuff looks great maybe on a {Mithra} or a {Taru}, but shit… those crap are so GAY on me!

Send in the Fashion Police in MMORPG!

To dos:

– Rank 6 Mission
– Finish Genkai 1 (just need one more item)
– Finish the Ninja Quest – Be a Ninja blink tank – which is completely a different style for me to approach the game
– and much much more…

See you in Vanad’iel /wave

Cheap Thrill – Nokia N-Gage QD

So, the Nokia N-Gage QD is no Sony PSP, but at least it will tide me over till late 2005 when we see the release of that.

Bluetooth (read Apple iSync), GPRS Data, GSM phone, and a decent handheld game console all combine into one makes Nokia N-Gage QD (the second generation) pretty interesting. Not to mention the “cheap thrill” price tag of $200.

The first gen. N-Gage is a joke to most gamers. Lack of decent game I think is still hurting the platform, but there’s some serious issue with the ergonomic industrial design front – you have to hold the “side” of the device when you are using it as a phone. Not only it “looks” wrong… well, ok, that’s the only thing “wrong” with it… but the “wrong” design that makes the user looks like an idiot is certainly a good way to kill a product. Just about the time I am getting tired of my SE T630 comes the new N-Gage… I’ll probably get my hand on it soon when it release late June… We’ll see.
